In need of some physical activity then we’ve listed a guide to the sports and facilities available on Phu Quoc Island. Many of the larger and established resorts have a variety of leisure and sport activities available, and while facilities on the island are still relatively limited, there are opportunities below to stretch your muscles.
Eager to jump around in the sand to get some much needed exercise, there’s a couple of volleyball nets making an appearance on Long Beach, one in front of Thien Hai Son Resort, sometimes in front of Saigon Phu Quoc Resort and a couple further down long beach.
Phu Quoc provides ideal weather conditions and calm waters during most times of the year for kayaking and more and more resorts now provide either free (Saigon Phu Quoc Resort) or rental kayaks (My Lan at Bai Sao Beach) for visitors. If your after exercise then kayaking on Long beach provides plenty of open space and only a little other boat traffic, whereas other areas on the island provide the additional benefit of exploring parts of the island, like other beaches and coves not generally reachable by road. Kayaks on Sao beach generally charge around US$4-5 per hour.
Still new to Phu Quoc, though starting to appear are the usual variety of water sports including jet skiing and wind sailing, with just a matter of time before water skiing takes off given the calm waters around the island during the high season. The best places to find these water sports include some of the resorts on Long Beach including Saigon Phu Quoc Resort and some Jet Skis are available on Bao Sao beach at My Lan Resort.
There is one company on Phu Quoc (on Tran Hung Dao street) that offer kite surfing on long beach. The alternative is to do windsurfing – which Chen La resort rents out windsurfing and sailing equipment.
